Oooh just heard from one of my cousins... check out her boyf's site. Lots of groovy products he has designed. ANd I just spotted that the portable fender PA system is something I used only last month when a visiting lecturer brought one in to work, and I went. "oooh, that's cool."

Woah... check out this amazing photo that got "Daily Deviation" at deviantART today.

It's a close up of an eye, with a visible reflection of the photo being taken in the iris... be sure to click on the Full View link for the full details (it's a big piccie, so be prepared for a wait....)

Another hard day at the office, and quiet evening as Martin is out playing with his mates tonight. Some days I love my job, and some days I don't. Occasionally I think of doing things like this or this instead.

Martin: Guess what?
Poppy: What?
Martin: We're going to see Lamb tonight!
Poppy: *sigh* I know.

So went the conversation for most of yesterday. Well, I have to say, they were absolutely fantastic, fantastic live electric double bass, and live guitar and drums, with all sorts of visuals going on, including a freaky regular close up of Andy's head...

Like I said, I thought I was going to be disspointed cos I was getting so excited about it, but they really did rock, quite spectacularly... Andy is a bit crazy, a real crowd-motivator, and seeing the whole crowd dancing to the final song of the first set was quite amazing.

Bristol Anson rooms, however is not really the best venue... it's narrow and deep, like a school hall, and the acoustics aren't great, though the engineers did a good job. Also they had one person serving at their meagre bar, or you could take a risk at the full on, seventeen-people-deep SU bar...

The support were pretty good too, with some truly excellent scratching, unfortuntely, I didn't catch their name...

They've added a messageboard at the site whih is pretty nifty, though the way it threads is not really conducive to carrying on conversations... still it's not a conversation board is it?

Today is the official launch of our website! For those of you that are visiting here for the first time today, welcome! If you're still unclear as to what a blog is, let me explain. A blog is short for a weblog, a collection of frequently updated web-published writings. They're sometimes long essays, or sometimes just a link to something the authour finds interesting... sometimes they're about boring stuff. sometimes they're about interesting stuff.

As you'll see, I post here most days with a link to something that's bothering me. I'm going to try to persuade Poppy to do the same occasionally, but I don't know how much luck I'll have!

well, half the site validates as proper html, but it's mucking up because of the way I've scripted the window popups. a bit annoying to be honest.

Anyhow, time for bed now I think. I'm tired. Discovered shoggot is a mad Angband fan too (should have guessed really) and had another go at Cthband after his enthusiasm about it. Might get round to putting an Angband section up soon. Dunno what Poppy will make of that though.

She's on call tonight which is a bit annoying, still I've been given a bottle of bubbly and some nice chocolates today for various favours I've done, so I can console myself with beiing able to enjoy those with her when she gets back.

Well, just given a sneak preview of the site to a few skinners, and the general consensus is that it seems to be a hit. Ken likes our house, and even crae said the site was fast, though he seemed to have a problem with the text colours, on NS 4.x which is an arse. Still it works fine with NS 6.0 and up. Integer spotted a text alignment problem on the skins page, fixed now though.

Everyone seems to like the site layout though, so that's cool.

Gah. trying to make a matching WindowBlinds: Skin for that theme I made yesterday - wanna sneak preview? - but it's so tedious. Maiking NextSTART themes is great. It's just slap, bang, wallop, this colour there, this bitmap here, and bobs your uncle.... but windowblinds..... sheesh. Makes me wanna eat bananas.
Almost.

Spent most of today making a NextSTART theme that matches the site. Looking pretty good. pretty purple I suppose...
Also tidied up the javascript and stuff so that the site works ok if you have Javascript turned off. And it also works fine with Opera.

I think next time, I'm gonna do all the initial testing in Opera, and THEN cross browser check... it's such an unforgiving browser if you make a mistake in the code. Still, I've managed it now.

moppy.co.uk is definitely propogating out, somneone's already had a sneak preview, but I can't get blogger to ftp to it yet, so there's no official launch till I guess wednesday or thursday.

aaaaah I can't take much more of this! Lamb have just added some more tracks to their web site from the album, and two remixes of Gabriel.

The SI Beggs 5.1 futures remix is just phenomenal. I love Lamb remixes, peopls always seem to take the best and just twist it....

In just less than a week I get to see Lamb live. It's ridiculous. I get so caught up about these things, especially if I've not seen them live in concert before. It was the same with Richard Thompson last year, who fortunately lived up to all my expectations.... *lapses into blissful reverie of Danny Thompson's bass playing*...

hmmm there's an interesting thing too... the bass playing on Lamb's first album, "Fear of Fours" is dedicated to the same Danny Thompson who plays with Richard Thompson. And both groups are playing in Bristol rather than Cardiff this tour... Who would have thought that Britains greatest guitarist/song-writer had so much in common with our premier kooky jazz-techno duo?

Sometimes, the most exciting web sites are also the most obnoxious.

I long for the day when DeviantArt implement ther comment rating system where troll-like posts can be avoided...

Ooooh look! a funny page about squirrel fishing "A smarter squirrel will discover after a while that it is better to bite through the string than simply pull on the peanut. This distinguishing tactic leads us to believe that the average squirrel performance in Texas is much higher than in Massachusetts."

mwahahahahah.... I wonder if 41 could be persuaded to do this....

mucking about with the tables again... needed to include a link back to the main page. If you're looking at this today, errr sorry but it's all in readiness for the new domain coming through, so the link top right won't actually do anything. bad practice I know, but hey, live with it.

Well I still don't know why the table is doing what it is, but I guess I'm going to have to live with it for now.

Gig went well last night, there were actually people dancing! Best yet, so very cool.

Well, trying to get this onto our own domain, but it aint up yet due a slight problem with the ole credit card. arse.

Hmmm there's something weird going on with the size of the nav pane on the right... I'm trying to get it to be just 150px high.... just adding a bit more to see if it's related to the number of posts made... must check the html and see if each post is a separate TD tag.

OK well, last night was cool. We went to see Amelie last night, went to an early showing, and then went on to a cool little cafe in Cardiff, EuroCafe, where they hav e a Christian dance thing going on, just to place to sit and chat. More than anything else, it was also a cool way to support our mate Karl who was DJ-ing, he's always supporting AlieNation stuff, so it was a good way to return the favour. Then we went on to this new noodle bar in Cardiff, (for the second time - it's in danger of becoming a regular haunt I think), and found two of our friends there from church.

On the way back home, Poppy noticed somebody she thought she recognized, so we swung the car round and ended up spending the rest of the night drinking fruit gins in the company of friends. Most agreeable.

And talking of the band, we've got a gig tonight. Should be a laugh, as long as we can set up and cound check in time. It's always disastrous if we have to rush, and organizers don't realize that setting up a MIDI rig is a lot more complicated than your 2xguitar, bass, drums job.

Well, got my hair bleached today. Just the ends. It's weird cos Like I haven't been to the hairdresser for four years, always cutting it at home.

And I've never been there for like more than 20 minutes I don't think, maybe 30 minutes when I first had my long hair cut off.... any how, its short and spiky and looks a bit porcupinish if I'm not careful. poppy sat by me and read trashy magazines and stuff.... I've never had anyone to do that with me before. being married is so cool.
